Four Russian aircraft have been shot down near the Ukrainian border, per a Russian news outlet. It may be the most Russian aircraft lost in a single day during the war, a pro-Russia blog said. Kommersant did not provide evidence that the four aircraft had been downed, but several Russian pro-war military bloggers made the same claim, Reuters reported. Regional Russian authorities have confirmed the crash of one helicopter, per Russian state news agency Tass. "In the morning, the Armed Forces of Ukraine shelled the village of Kurkovichi in the Starodubsky municipal district." Bryansk Governor Alexander Bogomaz said in a post on his Telegram channel. On Monday, a locomotive and seven freight wagons were derailed in Bryansk after an unidentified explosive device went off, Bogomaz said. On Saturday, the governor said four civilians died when a village was struck by shelling from the Ukrainian side of the border.

MOSCOW, Dec 26 (Reuters) - Russia's FSB security service said on Monday that a four-person Ukrainian "sabotage group" had been "liquidated" while trying to enter Russia's Bryansk region, which borders Ukraine, on Sunday, Russian news agencies reported. "As a result of a clash on December 25, 2022, four saboteurs who attempted to penetrate the territory of the Bryansk region from Ukraine were destroyed," state-owned RIA news agency quoted an FSB statement as saying. The FSB said the alleged saboteurs were armed with foreign-made guns and four improvised explosive devices. There was no immediate comment on the incident from Ukraine. Nov 30 (Reuters) - A large oil storage tank was on fire early on Wednesday in Russia's Bryansk region, a local governor said. The tank was located in the Surazh district in the north of the region. Bryansk region borders with Ukraine's northeast. "Fire and rescue teams are on the site," Governor Alexander Bogomaz said on the Telegram messaging app. Earlier in the night, the governor of Russia's Kursk region - to Bryansk's south and also bordering Ukraine - said Ukrainian forces had struck a power plant, causing some electricity outages.
